Lots of companies can write reports over databases. We’re different because we have deep business knowledge – especially of complex financial data. It’s much more than debits and credits.

Getting the numbers right – We understand complex accounting, from multi-company consolidation and multi-currency reporting to finding ways of managing the reporting requirements of outside firms.

Statements are great, but who’s/what really making me money? – A properly balanced set of financial statements can be a beautiful thing, especially in a complex environment. But that’s only a start. To really understand how you make money you need to dig in and understand line of business/product and customer profitability.

Of course, we’ve also written many reports over other business data, including procurement and supply chain. But the finance stuff is always the most interesting.

Simple Tools

If you’re like many companies, you’ve spent a lot of money on your transactions software – things like SAP, Oracle, Lawson or any number of expensive software products – and they kind of work. But you don’t get the full value out of your data and you’re told that, in order to get that value, you have invest in more expensive software.

Nine times out of 10 we find that our customers already have the software required to get the reports they need. When you have both the technical knowledge AND and understanding of business, tools like Crystal Reports, Oracle Discoverer, and the all-time favorite BI tool, Microsoft Excel, are usually enough to get the job done. Sometimes the fancier tools are justified, but more often they’re not.
